What to do on a rainy day in Split?
“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” – Bob Marley
It’s finally here, the long-awaited vacation. Croatia lures with crystal clear water, kilometers of picturesque beaches and dining on the open terrace. And is one of the sunniest holiday destinations in Europe, with 200 sunny days a year and an average of 9 hours of sunshine a day. But no matter what the stats say, there are those rainy days that can throw off your schedule. So what to do when it rains in Croatia?
Although some excursions like the Blue Cave Tour and outdoor activities like zipline are impossible to enjoy in the rain, or even pose a safety hazard, we have the perfect tip for you.
Don’t worry, we don’t suggest going to a museum or spending your money in the crowded malls.
We recommend getting outside and braving the weather. Because especially in summer it can rain in rare cases around Split, but the temperature remains constantly warm.
So what can be really fun when it rains?
Be part of our adventure tour and come rafting on our beautiful Cetina river through the canyon in Omis.
When the clouds gather and Mother Nature starts to do her thing, our guests often ask if it’s okay to go rafting in the rain. Is it okay to be on the water during a storm? Is rafting still fun when you get wet from above? The answer to all of these questions is: YES!
Rafting is one of the best rainy-day activities because getting wet is part of the fun! And on top it can be a very special and unique experience.
And since everyone is part of the paddling team, you’ll be on the move and not cold. On colder rainy days, we also make sure to keep you warm with neoprene suits and/or rain jackets.
Without a doubt, the best thing about rafting in the rain is the fog. Rain in the Cetina canyon is always accompanied by a special and magical atmosphere. Wafts of mist rise from the river, seemingly hanging from the cliffs and drifting eerily through the trees. If you have never experienced the fog in Cetina canyon in Omis, you should book your next trip when rain is on the forecast.
An unforgettable experience.
